The local problem

Pike County's landfill problem

These mountains are why the work matters, and where the waste was headed.

Approaching capacity: Pike County faces the limits of its landfill.

Pike County's reliance on landfill disposal has made waste management a prevalent issue. Proposed solutions have included expansion options estimated at up to $14 million, according to WYMT, as well as a potential landfill site in the Myra community that did not move forward. Green Future was established to address the underlying cause: daily habits.
